Hi, I'm Ariel Frankeny!

Ariel Frankeny's Bio:

Hello!  My name is Ariel Frankeny and I am a recent MBA graduate and an avid fashion and marketing enthusiast who is looking for an internship or job in marketing or retail fashion in Southern California. Although I was a Psychology and Philosphy double major as an undergraduate at Bucknell University, I decided to pursue the oportunity to receive my MBA from Penn State while accepting a position as an Assistant Coach to the Head Swimming, Diving, and Water Polo coaches.  Initially, I felt as though I was a fish out of water, as I had very limited experience in the business world; however, I soon found my niche in marketing.  The whole concept of marketing drew me in due to its integration of creativity and analytics; I had a strong background in fashion and costume design from taking courses in High School and at Bucknell as well as experience doing research and data analytics while obtaining my Psychology degree.  As a result, I feel as though Marketing is my calling.   As a former college athlete and coach, I possess the ability to coordinate and lead a team. Along with leadership, athletics taught me the value of hard work and how a team can suffer from a lack of dedication from a single member. As a result, I am willing to step up and take a leadership role and lead a team, and am not afraid to step in and correct a negative situation. Additionally, working as a coach for Pennsylvania State University taught me how to effectively recruit and maintain athletes to further the success of the program through phone calls, emails, campus visits, and event planning. Acting as the Aquatics Specialist and Pool Manager for the Aquatics Program for the City of Fountain Valley for the past two years has led me to develop excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to act calm under extreme pressure. This position has taught me the value of effective communication and the ability to coordinate multiple conflicting schedules. Additionally, this position has proven to me that I have the ability to calmly and efficiently deal with immediate change in the work environment and irate customers. In addition to my extensive work and educational experience, I have extensive experience with interpersonal communication in that I come from a very large family. I was raised to be empathetic and accepting of others and as a result I am able to cooperate with most people and can be understanding of the problems that others may be facing. These skills have helped me to become an effective manager working both as a coach and an Aquatics Specialist. Working as a Graduate Assistant for the Athletics Department at Penn State Erie was an experience I will never forget.  I learned so much in such a short period of time, from Social Media management to Statistical Analysis to Event Planning.  I learned critical time management skils, having to balance my 40-60 hour work week with MBA classes and my part-time job, and how to effectively interact with people in a business environment.  I gained valuable experience in drafting brochures and crafting email campaigns to draw in more fundraising opportunities and recruitment opportunities. It is my goal to obtain a career in the marketing industry working with a company with a great culture and reputation within the industry.  Although I would prefer to do marketing in the fashion design industry, I am open to gaining experience in all fields.
